Balaclava hats made of warm wool are indispensable in extreme weather conditions, especially in chilly wind and biting cold. Balaclava hats don't protect just the head from cold but also the neck. Merino wool is great at temperature control. So even when you wear a balaclava hat when, for example, skiing, and your head gets sweaty, you will remain comfortable. Wool creates so-called dry heat because it absorbs excess moisture and wicks it away to be gradually released into the air.
